Mr Doug Hoey (RPh, MBA), CEO of the National Community Pharmacy Association (USA) has been elected as the new President of the World Pharmacy Council following the retirement of Mr George Tambassis. Mr Hoey stated:

'I am pleased to take over from George Tambassis as President of the World Pharmacy Council. In his time as our Founder President George led the Council in developing its role as an informed, evidence based voice advocating for community pharmacy internationally, and crucially for exchanging information and perspectives among our member organisations. We have already seen the benefits as community pharmacies in several countries have expanded their services during the COVID-19 pandemic, and shown the vital public health contribution they make. I look forward to working with my colleagues to build on the public trust and confidence that exists in pharmacists to improve the healthcare of hundreds of millions of people around the world.'
